Acute unilateral vestibulopathy (AUV) is characterized by impairment of vestibulo-ocular reflex (VOR) and vestibulo-spinal reflex. Because of the deteriorated static and dynamic function of both reflexes, patients complain of dizziness, visual or gaze disturbances, and balance disorders. After AUV most patients recover spontaneously. However, literature reports that approximately 50% of patients do not, developing chronic dizziness, disequilibrium, spatial disorientation, and limitations in daily activities.
