Today we’ll learn about bilateral vestibular hypofunction or loss. Also known as BVH or BVL, it is characterized by difficulty maintaining balance, especially when walking in the dark or on uneven surfaces, and a decrease in the patient’s ability to see clearly when moving their heads.

In turn, this can increase the likelihood of falling, blurred vision, dizziness, and a degraded physical state.

Patients with BVH may also experience feelings of strange, disturbing sensations in their heads with head movement or a feeling of being off-balance. They may even avoid social interactions or restrict their daily activities.
