Prolonged concussion symptoms occur in our kids too, as well as in adults. Early treatment, including a graded return to activity and physical therapy, can help decrease the risk of an extended recovery. Kids and adolescents sometimes do not report their concussion symptoms because of fear of missing school and sports, so we must do our best to educate them and their parents to make concussion recovery a “normal” thing, just like recovery from an orthopedic injury is commonly accepted.
